Finnlines president and chief executive Emanuele Grimaldi is in talks to obtain emergency aid from the Finnish government.
The funds are required to soften the impact of the coronavirus after what has been a devastating second quarter for the Finnish ropax operator.
Revenues fell 33% to €105m ($125m) for the three months from April to June, compared to the same period of last year.
