Israeli container line Zim is forecasting an Ebitda range of $7.1bn to $7.5bn in 2022 despite uncertainty caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

If achieved, the forecast would be a 10% increase on last year’s record results, which significantly surpassed the carrier’s expectations of around $1.5bn at the beginning of 2021.

Chief financial officer Xavier Destriau told TradeWinds the Ukraine war is causing a lot of uncertainty, but Zim has seen very strong demand in the first quarter of this year with a bounce back from Chinese New Year faster than in 2021.
