Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport is adding a raft of neo-panamax boxship newbuildings to its fleet-renewal plans.
The liner operator was already looking to book up to six ultra-large containerships (ULCs), meaning its orders could stack up to total well over $3bn.
Shipbuilding players said the liner company is said to have asked shipyards in China and South Korea to quote newbuilding prices for 15,000-teu, scrubber-fitted vessels.
