Samsung Heavy Industries has signed a newbuilding contract with an undisclosed European company for four LNG-fuelled container ship newbuildings worth KRW 609m ($492m).
The South Korean shipyard said in a regulatory filing that it is scheduled to deliver the quartet to the unnamed owner by 2024.
Samsung did not reveal the size of the container carriers but based on the price of $123m per vessel, shipbuilding brokers believe these are 7,000-teu ships.
