Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) has lifted its portfolio of 6,000-teu newbuildings under construction in China up to a dozen vessels.

The Belgian shipowner has exercised options for six ships with China’s Qingdao Yangfan Shipbuilding.

The vessels are expected to be delivered to CMB container subsidiary Delphis from 2025 onwards.

Details of the enlarged order emerged after TradeWinds reported that the Antwerp-based company has been in talks to sell six of the vessels to France’s CMA CGM.
