Regional Container Lines (RCL) has purchased its fourth boxship this year in an ongoing hedge against the rising charter market.
The Thai-listed liner operator is paying $16.1m to take the 2,826-teu Irenes Reliance (built 2005), according to a statement issued to the Thai stock exchange.
The vessel is one of eight containerships in the 2,500-teu to 6,039-teu size range in the fleet of Greece’s Tsakos Shipping & Trading.
