Blanked container sailings are falling, according to port call data, but liner analysts see them increasing.

Cancelled sailings fell in the last week of May and first of June from the levels seen in the previous five weeks but continue to run at high levels on trade routes with Asia, said the International Association of Ports & Harbors (IAPH).

IAPH’s WPSP Port Economic Impact Barometer reported for weeks 22 and 23 that 39% of 104 ports responding to its survey reported containership calls falling in the two weeks by 5% to 25% of normal levels – compared with being 45% off week in 21.
