Container ship charter rates have fallen fast and far enough to enable smaller newcomers to enter the market.
That has been signalled by another liner upstart taking a small sub-panamax boxship on charter for services from Asia to New Zealand and Australia.
Focus Container Line will charter the 1,756-teu San Giorgio (built 2013) for three to four months from Greek owner Eastern Mediterranean Maritime (EastMed) at around $23,000 per day, according to European and Asian brokers.
