Singapore’s Pacific International Lines (PIL) is the latest shipping company looking to add compact 8,000-teu neo-panamax container ship newbuildings to its fleet.

According to shipbuilding sources, the Singaporean shipping outfit plans to order at least six newbuildings that will cost the company more than $720m. They think PIL can probably take delivery of the newbuildings only from the end of 2024 onwards as most shipyards have sold out their early berths.
