AP Moller-Maersk has emerged as the liner shipping company involved in Global Ship Lease’s (GSL) seven-ship leaseback deal.
The US-listed tonnage provider confirmed the 6,000-teu boxships it bought in February for $116m were from the Danish operator.
They will be chartered back to Maersk for three to five years.
Maersk is understood to have bought the former German-owned ships towards the end of last year and quickly sold them to GSL.
