French logistics company Geodis is breaking new ground with vessel charters in a bid to meet demand amid a lack of space on regular services from Asia to Europe.
Geodis said the move to secure its own container-capable tonnage for the first time provides clients with guaranteed capacity in an "ultra-tight" freight market, particularly from China, as port congestion globally disrupts schedules.
