Spot container freight rates could come under pressure this coming holiday season because US imports of containerised goods are expected to hit their lowest level in two years by the end of 2022, according to the National Retail Federation.
The lower forecast is due to retailers buying merchandise early this year to beat rising inflation and ongoing supply-chain issues, NRF vice president for supply chain and customs policy Jonathan Gold said.
