Container lines have begun diverting vessels around the Cape of Good of Hope as the backlog of vessels in the Suez Canal continues to rise.
Asian operators HMM and Evergreen Marine have already begun rerouting vessels, while European operators are leaving their options open.
The 23,792-teu HMM Rotterdam (built 2020), 20,244-teu Ever Greet (built 2019) and 5,023-teu Hyundai Prestige (built 2013) have been diverted from their existing route to sail around the southern tip of Africa, according to information from MarineTraffic.
