Evergreen Marine has sold two 1990s built container vessels for demolition, sources say.
It has sold the 5,364-teu Ever Ultra and the 1,296-teu (both built 1996), sources say.
It is believed the larger vessel went for $425 per ldt or $10m. The smaller ship is said to have fetched $380 per ldt or $2.6m.
Evergreen has been busy renewing its fleet in the past year with a major deal inked over the Christmas period.
The liner giant has placed its first ever newbuilding contract in China in a downsized deal for four vessels, TradeWinds reported this week.
The Taiwanese company commissioned state-owned Jiangnan Shipyard to construct the 2,500-teu vessels for delivery in 2021. The contract does not include any option.
