France’s CMA CGM is making a grab for containership tonnage from both the charter and secondhand markets.
The carrier has locked into long-term contracts for six containerships in charter deals estimated to be worth more than $300m.
The company is also purchasing the 1,714-teu Philippos-Michalis (built 2015) for $25m, brokers said.
The Philippos-Michalis is one of four modern Bangokmax designs ordered by Greece’s Allseas Marine in 2013 and 2014.
