Consultancy Alphaliner does not expect new container ship deliveries to make a dent in the capacity shortfall before next year.
The company said rapidly escalating vessel prices have not yet deterred buyers from ordering more and more vessels.
But any newbuildings joining the fleet this year will “only slightly alleviate the pain caused by supply chain problems such as port congestion and equipment shortage,” the company said.
