US regulators will closer scrutinise the three big liner alliances as freight rates continue to rise on key east-west trades.
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) has sent letters to 2M, THE Alliance and Ocean Alliance demanding more frequent submission of carrier-specific trade data.
Instead of submitting data on a quarterly basis, the alliances will have to submit the data on a monthly basis.
