Liner giant AP Moller-Maersk has confirmed an order for six methanol-fuelled 17,000-teu container ship newbuildings at Hyundai Heavy Industries in a deal worth KRW 1.63trn ($1.14bn).
Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) said the contract brings the total number of methanol-fuelled vessels that the buyer has placed with the group to 19.
Maersk’s earlier 13 boxships — a dozen 16,000-teu vessels and a single 2,200-teu feeder ship — were ordered last year.
