Wallenius Wilhelmsen has been appointed the new operator for the Port of Gothenburg vehicle and ro-ro terminal.

The Oslo-listed company will take over operations in February 2026 under a 12-year concession agreement.

John Felitto, chief operating officer for logistics services at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, said: “We are excited to have been appointed as the terminal operator at the Port of Gothenburg.

“Our ability to provide seamless and efficient logistics solutions will contribute to further developing the Port of Gothenburg as the leading vehicle and ro-ro terminal.”

Gothenburg, the home town of Volvo, has the largest port in Scandinavia for vehicles.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen aims to develop a partnership with the port as an integrated supply chain partner and transform the terminal into a “one-stop shop” for all carriers and customers.

Felitto added: “Operating the Gothenburg terminal strengthens our logistics network and is a strategic milestone that supports our vision of sustainable and innovative growth.”

Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s commitment includes an investment programme of nearly €6m ($6.1m) to modernise the terminal’s areas, buildings, and infrastructure.

“It amplifies our operational capabilities in the region and enhances our and the port’s ability to provide seamless and efficient logistics solutions. We look forward to co-creating a hub that will serve the Scandinavian market,” Felitto said.
