Chinese buyers are stoking the secondhand market for older container ships in a continuous buying spree.
China-backed buyers are behind the purchase of a handful of small boxships from tonnage providers including HS Schiffahrts, SFL Corp and MPC Container Ships.
They have emerged as the biggest rival to MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company in a competitive market in which both groups have been snapping up hard-to-come-by boxships.
