George Procopiou’s Sea Traders, is exiting the container ship sector by selling its last cellular vessel.
The 5,100-teu Sofia I (built 2010) is reported sold to Chinese buyer for about $40m, according to brokers.
If confirmed, the deal marks a profitable exit for an owner who bought the vessel eight years ago at what was the lowest point in the container shipping market.
