A surprise blacklisting of China Cosco Shipping by the US Defence Department has sparked fears that future actions could have a drastic impact on container freight rates, say shipping analysts.
“Sentiment is that this blacklisting targets Cosco container freight business specifically,” said Peter Stallion, an FFA broker with Braemar Securities.
