US rescues crew from sinking Iranian general cargo ship

The US Navy and Coast Guard have come to the aid of an Iranian general cargo ship that was sinking in the Middle East, rescuing the entire crew.

Central Command, which coordinates US military operations in the region, said American forces responded after the 455-dwt general cargo ship Shayesteh (built 1991) issued a distress call while in the Middle East Gulf.
