Fire fighters are said to have quickly extinguished a fire on board Cido Shipping (Hong Kong)’s aframax tanker LR2 Poseidon yesterday afternoon at a Tuzla Shipyard near Istanbul.
Turkish news reports indicate that the blaze broke out on board the 110,000-dwt LR Poseidon (built 2009) following an explosion in the ship’s boiler room.
According to a statement released by the Istanbul Governer’s Office, two shipyard workers died in the incident, while a further ten people were injured, one of whom was said to be in critical condition.
