A Chinese fishing boat hijacked by armed Somali robbers at the end of November has been released and is travelling home.
The Liao Dong Yu was “liberated” on Monday morning, the European Union’s Atalanta naval force (EUNAVFOR) said in a social media post, citing the Chinese embassy in Somalia.
“No crew members were injured and the vessel is in transit to safe waters,” according to the statement.
