The International Group of P&I Clubs has acted on enclosed space accidents after it revealed they have claimed 83 seafarers lives in the past five years.
The worrying death toll makes the safety issue one of shipping's single largest causes of death among seafarers.
Although the 13 members of the International Group have individually put out loss prevention notes on the issue, they have now decided to act collectively amid growing concern over the death toll.
