The Nigerian government has reportedly said it will help rescue the 15 seafarers kidnapped off a Borealis Maritime boxship last month.
Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency director general Bashir Jamoh told Turkey's ambassador, Melih Ulueren, that his agency would aid in freeing the crew members taken from the 2,824-teu Mozart (built 2007), according to Nigeria's The Nation newspaper.
The 23 January incident in the Gulf of Guinea, near Sao Tome & Principe, left one seafarer dead.
