An MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company vessel has reportedly run aground in the Singapore Strait.
The 14,300-teu MSC Faith (built 2019) was grounded after leaving Singapore’s Pasir Panjang container terminal en route to Yantian, China on Wednesday.
WK Webster described the situation as “potentially very serious”.
“It is reported that the crew may have been evacuated from the vessel,” the claims consultancy said in an alert.
Geneva-based MSC has been approached for comment.
AIS data shows the ship is underway using its engine, but it also shows that the MSC Faith was in roughly the same area of the Singapore Strait for about 24 hours.
WK Webster said the vessel was on a rotational voyage calling in Greece, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates before heading to Singapore, China and Hong Kong.
It said the ship could be carrying temperature-sensitive cargo.
The MSC Faith is flagged in Liberia and insured by the UK P&I Club, according to databases.
It is owned by Hai Feng 1816 Ltd, which shares a Cypriot address with manager MSC Shipmanagement.
