Asia saw a modest increase in the number of reported incidents of piracy last month, newly released figures indicate.
A total of seven incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships were reported in the region during the month of May 2019.
The figures have been published by the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP)
While this represented a year-on-year decline of 22%, the number of incidents reported last month were higher than the previous six months.
