Greenpeace has written to Mitsui OSK Lines demanding that it should take full financial responsibility for the oil spill on the island of Mauritius.
MOL was the charterer of the 203,000-dwt Wakashio (built 2003), which grounded on the coast of Mauritius devastating the marine environment around the Pointe d’Esny.
The cost of the pollution should be covered by owner Nagashiki Shipping’s protection and indemnity insurer, the Japan P&I Club.
