Moscow has hit back at Nato’s plans to boost its presence in the Baltic Sea as “a clear challenge” and a violation of maritime law, senior Kremlin diplomats said.
Although stopping short of threatening radical measures, such as sending warships to escort vessels in and out of Russian waters, the statements reflect Moscow’s ire over a Nato plan to increase the alliance’s presence, agreed in Helsinki on Tuesday.
