Canada is to help fund domestic ports install shore side power as part of its commitment to limit air emissions from the transport sector.
The Shore Power Technology for Ports (SPTP) program will provide up to CAD27.2m ($27.1m) in cost-shared contribution funding.
Canada’s Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities says the program will run between April 2013 and December 2015.
The government says the money is intended to help fund “multiple projects” of varying scope across Canada.
