Slips, trips and falls can lead to claims running into hundreds of thousands of dollars at a time, according to a survey by the American Club, classification society ABS and Lamar University in Texas.
They have joined forces to try to reduce accidents caused by unsafe conditions onboard vessels.
“The initiative’s long-term objective is to develop recommendations aimed at improving the day-to-day safety of maritime personnel, both afloat and ashore, through sharing the results of data analysis,” the partners said.
