Wisdom Marine Group of Taiwan has returned to Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding in China with an order for three kamsarmax bulkers worth $102m in total.
Each of the 82,400-dwt newbuildings will comply with the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI)’s Phase 3 standards, which become mandatory for bulker newbuildings in 2025.
A Wisdom Marine senior executive indicated that the ships would cost about $34m and said the order was part of the company’s fleet renewal plan, and in preparation of future environmental requirements.
