Bulker operator Western Bulk Chartering has bought its first volume of carbon-offset bio-blend bunker fuel from John Fredriksen-backed supplier TFG Marine.
The bunker firm supplied 750 tonnes of B30 very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) at the Port of Rotterdam to the 63,600-dwt ultramax Beks Ceyda (built 2015), operated by Western Bulk.
TFG Marine said emissions from the production, supply and consumption of the B30 fuel have been offset with carbon credits.
