The US has imposed sanctions on the trading subsidiary of Russian oil giant Rosneft for sending oil to Venezuela as part of President Trump's efforts to oust president Nicolas Maduro.
The Trump administration in 2019 recognised Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido as a legitimate interim president but Maduro stays in power with backing from Russia, China and Cuba.
