Dubai-based Transworld Group has expanded its bulker operations again as it seeks to continue its diversification beyond its traditional boxship business.
The Indian-controlled shipowner said it acquired the 38,215-dwt handysize TBC Passion (ex-Asahi Maru, built 2011) from Japan's Yokoyama Kaiun. It also bought the 38,500-dwt TBC Prime (built 2011), the former Turquoise Ocean, from Santoku Senpaku.
Brokers put the price of the TBC Passion at $9m, below VesselsValue's estimate of $11.6m.
