Swire Shipping has carried out its first shipment using electronic bills of lading (eBLs).
Trade finance digitisation company Bolero International said the Hong Kong owner had used its system to accelerate a containerised grain cargo from Sydney and Newcastle in Australia to Tauranga, New Zealand, for trader Cargill.
Bolero said the move was a significant first for Swire, which is now following up with more eBLs for Cargill shipments to the Solomon Islands from Australia.
