Dry bulk shipping is experiencing a “cyclical upturn” rather than a new commodity supercycle, a top analyst in Asia has argued.
Rahul Kapoor, global head of commodity analytics and research in maritime and trade at data firm IHS Market, said the market's upward trajectory is rooted in supply chain disruptions throughout the commodities space.
Kapoor, who was speaking at a Baltic Exchange freight and commodity forum during Singapore Maritime Week, said commodities prices have risen strongly amid supply shortages and other factors.
