Norwegian bulker company Seven Seas Carriers has boosted its fleet with another Japanese-built supramax amid declining prices for ships of this type.
Shipbrokers said the Bergen-based shipowner has purchased the 51,000-dwt Golden Island (built 2012) for $12.5m in a deal that involves co-investors. The ship was previously in the fleet of Shikishima Kisen of Japan.
Seven Seas CEO Christian Sundt confirmed the deal for the Oshima Shipbuilding-constructed vessel, which has been renamed Orion.
