George Economou’s DryShips has emerged as the buyer of two modern kamsarmaxes from Emanuele Lauro-led Scorpio Bulkers.
DryShips has been an aggressive buyer of both wet and dry tonnage this year, fuelled by cash from Economou and Toronto-based hedge-fund manager Marc Bistricer.
The latest additions to the DryShips stable are the 81,600-dwt SBI Cakewalk and SBI Charleston (both built 2014) in a deal worth $45m, market sources say.
