Orders for bulkers are running at half of last year’s level.
Ralph Leszczynski, head of research at Banchero Costa in Singapore, has calculated that in the first five months of 2019, about 60 vessels of more than 20,000 dwt each were ordered, totalling 5.5 million dwt.
“That’s almost half of what we saw in the same period last year,” he said.
