Greece’s Minerva Marine has boosted its capesize fleet with the purchase of an 11-year-old ship put up for auction recently by lenders of Turkey’s Active Shipping & Management.
Several brokers and ship-management sources in Athens and London identified the Andreas Martinos-led company as the buyer of the 169,200-dwt Cape Providence (built 2010) for about $20m.
This is about $2m above the price that the Daehan Shipbuilding-constructed ship fetched in an online auction in South Africa in January, as reported by TradeWinds.
