Japanese shipyard Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has been granted approval in principle (AIP) from ClassNK for its LNG-fuelled 207,000-dwt capesize bulk carrier design.
The AIP was granted based on ClassNK’s Rule Part GF, one of the class society’s rules for the survey and construction of steel ships.
The rule adopts the IMO’s International Code of Safety for Ship Using Gases or Other Low-Flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code) and verifies that the ship design complies with these safety standards.
