Norway's Torvald Klaveness has teamed up with existing investors to form a new company to operate combination carriers.
Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) will be the leading owner and operator in this bulker sector, it said.
It aims to provide the "most environmentally friendly transportation system with the lowest carbon emissions in the industry," it added.
KCC has raised new equity of $32m from its investors, which will be contributed over the next 18 months for expansion.
