China’s Jinling Shipyard has landed an order for four 59,000-dwt bulker newbuildings from a compatriot shipping company.
An executive at Jinling said the order was from sister company Shanghai Changjiang Shipping. Both companies are subsidiaries of China Merchants Group.
Jinling did not disclose the newbuilding price but said the ships will be used for trading in China only.
Bulkers built for China's domestic trades differ slightly from those for international trades in that they will not be geared or installed with ballast water treatment systems, an industry insider told TradeWinds.
