Privately-owned Jiangsu New Hantong Heavy Industry (Jiangsu Hantong) has struck a newbuilding contract worth slightly more than $136m with Germany's Reederei H Vogemann.

The Chinese shipyard has inked a deal with the German owner to build four 82,000-dwt kamsarmax bulker newbuildings, but the contract does not include optional vessels.

Shipbuilding sources said Vogemann is paying slightly more than $34m each for the new Sdari-82 (2020) design, which features an improved hull form for even lower fuel consumption and a better light-running margin for the propeller.
