Norway's Hagland Shipping has kick-started a fleet renewal drive with a new order for hybrid short-sea bulkers in the Netherlands.
Royal Bodewes shipyard will build two self-discharging bulkers of 5,000 dwt to help the shipowner reduce emissions. Options for two additional ships are attached to the order.
A plug-in battery propulsion system will ensure zero emissions at port, the shipowner said.
