Fire on Greek bulker leaves one dead in Arabian Sea

A 55-year-old Greek officer died early on Wednesday after fire broke out in the engine room of the bulker he served on as second engineer.

The incident occured on the 92,500-dwt Faneromeni (built 2007) as the vessel was sailing in the Arabian Sea, Greek coastguards told TradeWinds.

A source at Marmaras Navigation, the vessel's management company, said that the fire had just a small extent and was extinguished by the crew on its own means.
