Finland’s ESL Shipping is painting a better bulker demand picture for the rest of the year, after increasing earnings in the second quarter.
The Baltic Sea handysize specialist, owned by the listed Aspo group, said requirements from charterers are expected to remain at a “fairly good level” in the steel industry and gradually pick up in the forestry industry.
Summer is seasonally a softer time for ESL, but the longer-term outlook is positive, given the tightening supply and demand situation as a result of expected high industrial investment activity, the company added.
